1. Windy and Carl – "The Dream House" : Truly gorgeous and engaging. Only discovered Windy and Carl late last year and can’t believe they slipped past the radar for so long.

2. Tape – "Rideau" : It bedazzles me that the term Post Rock can be used to describe anything nowadays. It’s like calling everything that happens after 9am, Post Breakfast. Enough – this is the sort of territory Tortoise should have explored after TNT for my mind.

3. Augie March – "Moo You Bloody Choir" : Took me three listens to start liking this album (which could have been a hangover from my disappointment in their last release). Blow me down though on the third listen I was struck. You listen once and you hear some some country, some rock, some lilting pop. You listen again and you hear something else, as if this shifting aesthtic terrain suddenly creates a larger idea and it’s constituent elements fall to the side. Hear it out.
